Deep Yellow Limited (DYL), through its wholly owned Namibian subsidiary Reptile Uranium Namibia (Pty) Ltd (RUN), is seeking a highly capable and motivated Safety Officers to join our dynamic construction management team. If you are a result-driven Safety Officer with a robust background in implementing and managing Integrated Management Systems (ISO 45001) and a strong track record in developing and maintaining Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention programs we want to hear from you. You will bring strong technical capability, field leadership, and hands on operational experience to support a rapidly evolving construction to mining landscape.

About the Role

We are seeking competent and motivated safety officer to join team and support safe site operations during the construction of our mine and ultimately transferring to Operations. This position plays an integral role in ensuring that all the safety aspects of the Tumas Project is in compliance with DYL policies, procedures, standards, and Namibian Safety legislation. The Safety Officer position will be supporting the implementation of the Tumas Project Safety Management Plan and directly report to the Health and Safety Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mining Construction
• Monitor and enforce safety procedures on the assigned construction areas.
• Support site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
• Perform site inspections, identify hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
• Drive the site SIF prevention program, including coaching on hazardous energies.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and safe working practices.
• Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and clients on safety matters.
• Support incident reporting, investigation, action closure and learning.
• Design and deliver health & safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to build team competency and drive a proactive safety culture
• Manage contractor health & safety compliance and stakeholder relationships

Job Specifications

• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related field.
• At least 5 years’ experience in construction site or heavy industry safety operations.
• Experience preparing safety reports, incident documentation, and compliance records for construction or heavy industry operations.
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence.
• Experience conducting risk assessments and hazard identification in construction sites or heavy industry environments.
• Apply Incident Investigation (ICAM) and Root Cause Analysis using techniques like 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, or Fault Tree Analysis.
• Technical Knowledge and understanding construction safety Processes (e.g., lockout/tagout procedures, working at heights, loading and offloading, form work safety, etc.).
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and safety data sheets (SDS).
• Experience collaborating with site teams, supervisors, and contractors to resolve safety issues and implement corrective actions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety reporting or incident management systems.
• Experience managing multiple safety inspections, incident follow-ups, and compliance activities in a fast-paced site environment.
