VACANCY: KOMATSU PC850 EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

Company Overview

Unitrans Mining has exciting opportunities for experienced Komatsu PC850 Excavator Operators to join its operation at Hope & Gorob Mine, Namibia.

The successful candidates will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavators in a mining environment while supporting production, loading, and operational requirements.

Role Purpose

The Komatsu PC850 Excavator Operator will be responsible for operating excavator equipment to load, dig, handle, and move materials safely and efficiently.

The role requires a strong focus on safety, machine care, accurate reporting, and adherence to company policies and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Excavator Operation

• Safely operate the Komatsu PC850 Excavator in accordance with site procedures
• Load materials onto haul trucks or designated areas as required
• Carry out digging, loading, stockpile management, and material handling activities
• Operate equipment efficiently to support mining production targets

2. Inspections & Reporting

• Conduct daily pre-start and machine inspections
• Report machine defects, damages, breakdowns, or unsafe conditions timeously
• Maintain accurate inspection sheets, logbooks, and operational records

3. Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, safety rules, and site regulations
• Operate machinery in a safe and responsible manner to prevent incidents and equipment damage
• Follow instructions from supervisors and site management

4. Housekeeping & Equipment Care

• Maintain good housekeeping of machinery and surrounding work areas
• Keep equipment clean, safe, and ready for operation
• Report any unsafe working conditions immediately

5. Operational Support

• Assist with ad hoc responsibilities as and when required
• Support production teams to meet operational targets
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays when required

Minimum Requirements

• Namibian ID
• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
• Valid driver’s license (where applicable)
• Valid competency certificate for Komatsu PC850 Excavator or relevant excavator equipment
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ proven excavator operating experience in a mining environment
• Contactable references
• Must be medically fit
• Must have sober habits
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays
