Company Introduction

Unitrans Mining has exciting opportunities for experienced Volvo L180 Front End Loader Operators to join its operation at Hope & Gorob Mine in Namibia. The successful candidates will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating front end loader equipment to support loading, material handling, stockpile management, and operational requirements.

Role Purpose

The Volvo L180 FEL Operator will be responsible for operating front end loader equipment to load, move, stockpile, and handle materials safely and efficiently. The role requires strong safety awareness, equipment care, accurate reporting, and adherence to company policies and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Front End Loader Operations

• Safely operate the Volvo L180 Front End Loader in accordance with site procedures.
• Load, move, stockpile, and handle materials as required.
• Support efficient material movement and operational flow.
• Operate equipment responsibly to prevent damage to machinery, infrastructure, and materials.

2. Inspections & Reporting

• Conduct daily pre-start and machine inspections.
• Report defects, tyre damage, hydraulic leaks, breakdowns, or unsafe conditions timeously.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and operational documentation.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, safety regulations, and site rules.
• Operate safely around mobile equipment, trucks, stockpiles, loading areas, and personnel.
• Follow all instructions from supervisors and site management.

4. Housekeeping & Equipment Care

• Maintain good housekeeping of machinery and work areas.
• Keep equipment clean, safe, and ready for operation.
• Assist in keeping operational areas safe, organised, and free of hazards.

5. Operational Support

• Assist with ad hoc operational duties as required.
• Support production and operations teams to meet site requirements.
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays when required.

Minimum Requirements

• Namibian ID.
• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
• Valid driver’s license, where applicable.
• Valid competency certificate for Volvo L180 FEL or relevant front end loader equipment.
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ proven FEL operating experience, preferably in mining or material handling operations.
• Contactable references.
• Must be medically fit.
• Must have sober habits.
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong front end loader operating skills.
• Good understanding of loading, stockpile, and material handling operations.
• Good safety awareness around mobile equipment and operational areas.
• Ability to work under pressure in a production environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
• High attention to detail when conducting inspections and completing records.
