VACANCY: KOMATSU GD 675-5 GRADER OPERATOR

Company Overview

Unitrans Mining has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Komatsu GD 675-5 Grader Operator to join its operation at Hope & Gorob Mine, Namibia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating grader equipment to maintain roads, surfaces, and operational areas within the mining environment.

Role Purpose

The Komatsu GD 675-5 Grader Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating grader equipment to maintain haul roads, access roads, work areas, and other site surfaces.

The role requires precision, safety awareness, and strong knowledge of road maintenance within a mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Grader Operation

• Safely operate the Komatsu GD 675-5 Grader
• Grade, level, shape, and maintain haul roads and access roads
• Maintain safe road conditions for mobile equipment and site traffic
• Support road construction, drainage, and general surface maintenance activities

2. Inspections & Reporting

• Conduct daily pre-start and machine inspections
• Report defects, blade damage, tyre issues, leaks, or unsafe conditions timeously
• Maintain accurate inspection sheets and operational records

3. Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to company policies, procedures, safety regulations, and site rules
• Operate safely around trucks, dozers, excavators, and other mobile equipment
• Follow instructions from supervisors and site management

4. Housekeeping & Equipment Care

• Maintain good housekeeping of machinery and work areas
• Keep equipment clean, safe, and ready for operation
• Report unsafe road conditions or site hazards immediately

5. Operational Support

• Assist with ad hoc operational responsibilities as required
• Support production and road maintenance teams to ensure safe site access
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays when required

Minimum Requirements

• Namibian ID
• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
• Valid driver’s license (where applicable)
• Valid competency certificate for Komatsu GD 675-5 Grader or relevant grader equipment
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ proven grader operating experience in a mining or civil environment
• Contactable references

• Must have sober habits
• Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays
