Overall Purpose of Position
The Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling mineral processing plant operations from the control room. The role uses SCADA/DCS systems to track plant conditions, adjust process parameters, respond to alarms, record operating data, and coordinate closely with field operators to maintain stable and safe production.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor plant operations and key process conditions using SCADA/DCS systems.
- Adjust process parameters within approved operating ranges to support stable plant performance.
- Respond promptly to alarms, abnormal conditions, and process deviations.
- Record operational data accurately and maintain control-room logs.
- Coordinate with field operators regarding plant conditions, equipment status, and required actions.
- Support safe start-up, shutdown, and normal operating activities from the control room.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 plus a mineral processing or process-control qualification.
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience operating a control room in a concentrator or processing plant.
- Proficiency in monitoring SCADA/DCS systems.
- Experience adjusting process parameters and responding to alarms.
- Ability to record operating data accurately and coordinate effectively with field operators.
